I-House Tours
Rotary Club of Walnut Creek (RCWC) has sponsored an agriculture tour of Contra Costa County for over 45 years. The tours are composed of more than 40 students and visiting professors from about 20 countries. Tours start from the International House (hence the name) at UC Berkeley and travel throughout the eastern part of the county. Stops are made at several major farms and a variety of crops are viewed. At least one stop is made at a fruit and vegetable stand so participants can purchase goods. The stops have included growers of grains, fruits, nuts, and, especially fun, wine. The highlight of the tour is the stop at world famous rodeo star Jack Roddy’s cattle ranch where Jack puts on a calf roping demonstration with his wife. He then shows off his many rodeo awards and talks about the wonders of freedom and American life.
