The annual crab feed was begun under President Russ Anderson (1998 – 1999) and continues to be the single largest fund raiser for the Rotary Club of Walnut Creek. Nearly every member of the club participates in one way or another to make the crab feed a success. The event features tables full of “bargain” silent auction items such as vacations, merchandise, services, meals and the like. The high point of the night is a “Live” auction featuring high value prizes for successful bidders. In recent years, a gourmet cake auction has provided spirited bidding and instant deserts for attendees.
The menu consists of fresh from the sea all you can eat Dungeness crab, pasta, bread and salad.
There are a series of raffles including an entire barrel of high quality wines – some local and some imported.
Past President Marty and wife Nancy prepare to chow down.
Gourmet cake ready for auction and consumption.
Proceeds from the crab feed go to the Walnut Creek Rotary Club Community Foundation. The “Foundation” is a non-profit which funds most of the club’s projects.
