Civic Park Bandstand and Flag Poles (1997)

Bandstand construction was a project of the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce. The Rotary Club of Walnut Creek contributed funds and labor assistance assistance of club members.

The three flag poles in Civic Park were a gift to the city from our club and the Rotary Club of Tokyo – Kohoku  to recognize the club’s 60th anniversary. The Kohoku Club also donated a plaque to commemorate the occasion.  (Kohoku is Walnut Creek sister club in Japan.  See separate article.)  The flag poles were installed in 1997 while Lance Mendes was president.
